What is it about your favorite teacher that makes them stand out in your memory?

I had this teacher that wanted everyone to belong.

In the first days of class, we picked “Respect” by Aretha Franklin as our anthem. Then, we mapped out a dance to “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins. We were third graders.

Now looking back, I can see that this teacher liked me, and all her students, for who they were, along with what they were to become. I think that acceptance of us, and the introduction to Aretha Franklin, are what made her class such a friendly place to be.
